خلاصه: Background and Aim: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease. It seems that the function of regulatory T cells (Tregs) is compromised in RA. Foxp3 is a critical transcription factor of these cells. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of vitamin D plasma level with Foxp3 gene expression in the patients with RA. Material and Methods: 18 untreated RA patients and 41 healthy people participated in this study. Plasma levels of ... سال انتشار: 2018

Abstract: Prolonged activation of dermal fibroblasts is the main cause of progressive fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc). It seems that inhibition of apoptosis in SSc fibroblasts deregulates fibrosis. MicroRNA-21 (miR-21) is a pro-fibrotic factor with high expression in lesional areas of SSc skin and fibroblasts. Methods The effects of miR-21 on expression of Bcl-2 and Bax, two apoptotic genes, in dermal fibroblasts of SSc patients were evaluated using real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot analysis. Abstract: TTSTUDY DESIGN: Randomized controlled trial. TTOBJECTIVES: To examine the effectiveness of isolated hip abductor and external rotator strengthening on pain, health status, and hip strength in females with patellofemoral pain (PFP). TTBACKGROUND: Altered hip kinematics resulting from hip muscle weakness has been proposed as a contributing factor in the development of PFP. To date, no study has examined clinical outcomes associated with isolated hip muscle strengthening in those with PFP. TTMETHODS: Twenty-eight females with ... سال انتشار: 2012

Abstract: Increased incidence of renal stone has been reported in ankylosing spondylitis (AS), but unlike some well-known renal involvements, they have not been fully studied. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of AS with urolithiasis and also the relation between urinary stone and severity markers. Methods: One hundred-sixty three AS patients were included in a cross-sectional study from Iranian AS association, Iran Rheumatology Center and Rheumatology Clinic of ... سال انتشار: 2012

Treatment of Chronic Low Back Pain A Randomized Clinical Trial Comparing Multidisciplinary Group-based Rehabilitation Program and Oral Drug Treatment With Oral Drug Treatment Alone

Authers: Sedigheh Sadat Tavafian, PhD, Ahmad Reza Jamshidi, Kazem Mohammad, PhD

Abstract: This randomized clinical trial examined the efficacies of a group-based multidisciplinary rehabilitation program and oral drug treatment versus oral drug treatment alone in Iran. Methods: A total of 197 patients with chronic low back pain were randomized to either intervention group (n=97) receiving a groupbased, 5-session multidisciplinary rehabilitation program plus oral medication or to control group (n=100) receiving just oral medication. At baseline and at 3 and 6-month follow-ups, patients filled out questionnaires on health-related quality of life ... سال انتشار: 2011

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the association between occupation, sport, life-long daily activities, and knee osteoarthritis. Method: We randomly recruited 480 subjects with knee osteoarthritis who had participated in an earlier community-based study (Tehran-COPCORD, stage-I); they were compared with 490 controls (case-control study). A questionnaire was used to record all occupations/sports, plus details of the following daily activities: standing, walking on flat ground, walking up/downhill, sitting on the floor, sitting on a chair, squatting, knee-bending, cycling, climbing stairs, and ... سال انتشار: 2009

Abstract: SUMMARY Background: Levothyroxine (L-T4) is widely prescribed for treating thyroid disorders, but its effect on bone mineral density (BMD), is being debated. Objectives: We studied the effect of supraphysiologic doses of L-T4 on BMD in a group of premenopausal women. Patients and methods: We included 50 women (mean age = 36Æ8 ± 7Æ6 years) receiving L-T4 for at least 1 year for treating their benign cold thyroid nodules.
